The awesome and incredible “Beat” Takeshi Kitano (Battle Royale, Fireworks, Outrage) has been cast to play Chief Aramaki, in the anticipated live action Ghost in the Shell movie. I think he is a great choice to play the commanding officer of section 9, and will love to see him in this movie. With a March 31, 2017 release date at hand, you should expect more and more news regarding the film!

The director of classic anime films like  Masamune Shirow’s cyberpunk masterpiece “Ghost in the Shell” and “Patlabor” was announced last Monday to be the director of a new English-language live-action film titled “The Last Druid: Garm Wars“; set in another world where 3 militaristic tribes of clones have been locked in perpetual war.

Apparently Oshii himself had drafted up the idea for the film sometime after he completed work on “Ghost in the Shell” but due to technological limitations at the time in 1995 could not produce the film in the way he desired. This time around however he believes he can finally create the vision he had originally intended. At this time there hasn’t been an announcement of a release date, only that Oshii will be at the helm directing, but time will tell for this sci-fi feature that has been a long time in the making.
