Gatebox, is a new hologram assistant in the works by vinclu Inc, In the concept video below you can see Azuma Hikari(the hologram character) interacting with a young man. She will greet you and say goodbye as well as serve as a voice activated control for your TV and other home tech. This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while and really hope it comes out. I’m sure all of you would love waking up to a cute anime girls voice. Its not for sale yet but apparently will be up for pre-orders with crowdfunding later this year. Check out their site HERE for more info.

The sonic screwdriver is a tool used by The Doctor in the BBC series Doctor Who (which will mark its 50th anniversary next year, thats right its been on for almost 50 years!!). This tool can pick locks, perform medical procedures, subdue evil beasts (such as the Daleks),  and blow things up. This tool, just like the lightsaber from Star Wars, is made up science fiction, but a team of researchers (or as I like to call them, Super Nerds, with the superpower of making science fiction science reality!!) from Dundee University in Scotland have done something very cool that makes it closer to being real. Its got a very longgggg way to go still but hey most lasers used today evolved from trying to make Star Wars lightsabers (still waiting on my lightsaber guys!! But I’ll take a sonic screwdriver too). Check out the video after the break.
